Today, Jesse registered at the driving school. In a couple of months, he will have his driver’s license.
Col 1:15-20 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. (16) For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. (17) He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (18) And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. (19) For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, (20) and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
A professor from the Eastern Illinois University conducted a study to find out the meaning of life. Carl Jung invited people to let him know if anyone finds the meaning of life. A high ranking executive in Malaysia said when he stopping bringing in money for the company, he would be fired. He resigned to seek a more meaningful life.
The question of who am I is a question of identity, which can only be solved by theology.
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose if meaningless.” Sir Bertrand Russell, an atheist.
“We try to be our own masters as if we had created ourselves. then we hopelessly strive to invent some sort of happiness for ourselves ourside of God, apart from God. And out of that hopeless attempt has come human history … the long, terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy” ~C. S. Lewis, former gostic
In Col, we read that Jesus is pre-imminent of everything else because He created them all. That is why when people had an encounter with Jesus Christ, their lives can never be the same.
Doctors are called 医生 and not 医死because they can only help the living.
In v16, we read that all things are created for Him and for Him. Our purpose is found in Jesus Christ and nothing else. Jesus offered Himself to us. Only a sinless person can take away the sin of the sinners.
“Terrorists can be in our homes.” ~Pastor Daniel Ho
Jesus came to deal with the problem of the heart and the problem of the heart is the problem of sin.
Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
If we begin by asking who am I we cannot find the answer because that is a self-centred question.
Feed me, fill me, satisfy me. We cannot find the answer if we focus on ourselves.
Good Friday is to remember Jesus dying on the Cross and Easter Sunday is to remember His resurrection. The fear of death and the sting of death is removed once and for all. You can I can stand victorious. That is the reason we celebrate this man, who is a servant, a king, our Lord, our Saviour. The death that is awaiting us is just physical and temporary, as we usher in a wonderful eternal life.
When we take the step of faith and turn to Jesus, asking Him to be our Lord and Saviour, to take charge of our lives, He would, because of His great love.
Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
We don’t deserve His love. The Easter message is a message of hope, that today can be a day of celebration, of great joy.
