MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger, Windows Live Messenger. Whichever version you have used (or are still using) is going to be deactivated on 15/03/2013. Instead of developing and maintaining 2 different instant messaging tools, Microsoft has decided to consolidate and focus on Skype which they acquired.
I have stopped using Windows Live Messenger for a few years now. I liked the emoticons (and customer emoticons). I think I still have a backup copy of them somewhere. I have been using multiple protocol IM tools like Pidgin, Digsby and recently Trillian. I have always been using Skype.
Have you been using Windows Live Messenger? What would you miss most about it? What alternative IM tool will you switch to?
