What can I do?

I often cry when I go to Facebook. There are so many touching and inspirational stories.

Today is no exception.

First, I saw this. But I was so tied up I kept it in Chrome and watched it at home … after some time on Whatsapp with my college friends (they are good friends, supporting me and encouraging me all day long), hang my clothes, walked out to buy late dinner (close to midnight).

Paul Smith, in his 80s was born with cerebral palsy. Yet he created amazing art using a typewriter! Did he give up on life? Did he hold a grudge against God and everyone else? No. In fact, people love him. Here’s a man who didn’t give up and look hardship in the face and keep on living.

Then, there’s this.

14 year old Jack Vidgen blew the judges away with his wonderful rendition of Whitney Houston’s I’ve Got Nothing. He went on to win Australia’s Got Talent in 2011. Here was a young man, who was obviously gifted, making good use of his talent.

Here are the questions I ask myself.

  • Am I facing any insurmountable obstacles?
  • Am I using whatever little talent I have?
  • Is there anything I could do better if I pull up my socks?
  • Is my desire for acknowledgement / recognition justified?
  • How can I stop neglecting what I should not be neglecting?

At the end of it all, I need to get out of this underachieving / under-appreciated mentality and live my life as God wants it. I need to get out of this wilderness. No more going round and round. I need to go towards the Promised Land.

So, it doesn’t matter when people younger than I am are becoming pastors while I am not.
It doesn’t matter when people older than I am are healthier.
It doesn’t matter who doesn’t appreciate me as much as I like.
It doesn’t matter I still don’t have a 10+ Mbps internet line at home.
It doesn’t matter I don’t have a daughter (I love my son, don’t get anything wrong.)
It doesn’t matter I have never own a foreign car.
There, I said it all.

I will choose to live my life the way it should be. That’s what matters.
