Saul obeyed his father’s instructions. He did not see it as a menial task that was beneath him.
Do we sometimes shun “small things” that we think are not important enough for us? I only do the important things; I only handle things that matter. I am not a gardener. I am not a clerk. I am the CEO.
I don’t arrange chairs. I am the head of the table. I don’t sweep the floor. I have the floor.
The Bible tells us that when are faithful in small things then only we are given bigger things.
This is not to say we become mindless drones and just do whatever job there is. Instead, this is to encourage us not to mind doing “small jobs” when the need arises. The key is to be faithful. Small things. Don’t sweat it. Big things. Don’t be intimidated.
This is also not a “be like Saul” piece. We want to be objective. Saul obeyed his father. This is something we should emulate. Don’t follow everything Saul did. We can ask God for wisdom.
