Good morning. We are beginning this week’s Bible reading with Psalm 44. We read about the raw, unadulterated, and unbridled emotion of the psalmist lamenting and crying out to God. We see the tension twixt the suffering he experienced and the faith to God.
We have seen similar in Psalm 77 how we can be honest when we come to God.
We wear masks in front of others. We want to protect ourselves. We do not allow ourselves to be vulnerable in front of other. With God, we do not have to pretend. We just come to God just as we are. Are we afraid? Are we worried? Do we feel helpless? Weak? Incapable? Perplexed? It doesn’t matter. Bring them to God. Tell him everything. He knows everything anyway, but he wants YOU to know he cares. He wants YOU to know you can be open to him. It is foolish to think we can hide anything for him. I understand we don’t want to show our weaknesses or reveal our vulnerability even to our loved ones. With God, we can.
When we approach God in prayers, we can be genuine.
We have people in our lives we trust. These are the few people we can confide in. With them, we do not mind being silly, stupid, or weak. We can pour our heart out to them. We do not feel embarrassed to tell them how to pray for us.
With God, there is NOTHING we ought to be afraid of. We are not any less worthy to come to him because we have fears and doubts. We are not prohibited to come to him for getting into the same mess again and again. He won’t send us away because our problems are too small or too big.
Okay now. Whatever you are holding back, you can relax now. Just bring it to God in prayer. Wait on him. I pray we learn to release our burden when we come to the throne of grace.
