Greetings. Once again, we read two chapters of psalms today, Psalms 124 and 125.
Psalm 124 began with a look back at God’s past deliverance. The psalmist imagined what could have happened “had the Lord not been on our side.” Of course, God did. But what if he did not. The enemies would have engulfed them like a flood of raging waters. It shows how helpless “us” really are.
We are surrounded by troubles at one time or another. Sometimes we have multiple troubles at the same time. Psalm 124 reminds us to look back at God’s faithfulness in the past to keep our faith. When the oceans rise and thunders roar, God will be with us above the storm.
Psalm 125 spoke of security. However, instead of looking back, it looked forward. Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which shall not be shaken. Psalm125 offers encouragement, comfort, and assurance.
When we face challenges, we find solace in knowing that God is our ever-present source of strength.
Before you declare it is over, before you make a decision to call it quits, before you admit defeat, turn to God. Reflect on how how he helped you through the stormy seas, how he kept you safe through tough times, trust God. Put your hope in him. He holds your future.
