13/06/2024|Psalm 13 – Feeling lonely?

Today seems a bit different. You did not get any replies from the messages you sent yesterday. Not from your colleagues, not from your family, not from your friends. You tried a few calls. There are no answers from the other end. Your family are 7500 km away. You are alone. Even your dog is with your mother. You feel … alone.

In Psalm 13, David addresses the feeling of seemingly being forgotten by God and the eager anticipation of God’s intervention. David expresses his sorrow. It is easy to ask God why. Why me? Why have you forsaken me? David keeps his faith. He reaffirms his trust in God’s unfailing love.

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. (verse 5)

In our loneliest moments and in the darkest valley, we can continue to trust in God’s love and salvation.

I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me. (verse 6)

Do you remember the time? The many times God has blessed you, protected you, helped you, guided you, delivered you, restored you, picked you up from the pit, steered you back to the right path, reconciled your ruined relationship, and loved you unceasingly. Have you sung the LORD’s praises today?

I invite you to say this prayer.

“Father in Heaven, in times of despair, help us to trust in your unfailing love. Remind us of your salvation and fill our hearts with hope. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
