You have been serving in the ministry for six years. You remember it was a lot easier in the beginning. Now, there are so many problems. Your team members are not as co-operative. No one seems to appreciate what you do anymore. You feel tired. Before you are rested, you have to start working on it again.
It is not uncommon for us to feel tired in our Christian walk, our family, our ministry, and our work. You are not alone in this struggle. The Bible can give us guidance and encouragement.
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
When we put our hope and trust in God, it brings renewal and strength to our tired soul. We can find the energy to soar high above and to run the race. We can walk in faith without fainting.
Here are some ways we can recharge ourselves when we feel tired in our Christian walk.
- Devotion. Spend time in prayer, reading the Bible, and waiting on the Lord. Soak in his presence. Find solace in his promises.
- Fellowship. Connect with those within your community of faith. Offer support, encouragement, and prayer to one another.
- Reflect on Past Victories. Read your journals. Remind yourself how God has been faithful in the past. Reflect on the times he has carried you through tough times.
- Rest. Ultimately, your physical body needs physical rest. Get enough sleep. Eat good food. Drink plenty of water. Cuddle with your dog for five more minutes. Take care of yourself.
Remember, you are not meant to walk alone in your journey of faith. There could be spells when you walk alone but it is not all the time. Someone will come along. Lean on the strength of the Lord. Draw from the well of his Word. Drink of the rivers of living water. Find solace in your community of faith.
Conclusion: Dear tired Christian, remember that your journey of faith is not meant to be walked alone. Lean on the strength of the Lord, draw from the well of His Word, and find solace in the community of believers around you. May you be renewed in your spirit, refreshed in your soul, and strengthened in your walk with God.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Heavenly Father, I come to you weary and tired, seeking your strength and renewal. Help me to soar on wings like eagles, to run and not grow weary, and to walk and not faint. Fill me with your peace and restore my soul. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
