Greetings, my dear fellow readers of the Bible. We continue with the 2024 DUMC Bible Reading Plan. On the following week, we read another give passages. We read Psalm 74, Psalm 80, and chapters 2 to 4 of Jeremiah. A common theme running across these passages is the call for God’s people to return to him.
Psalm 74 laments the destruction of the temple and cries out to God. Similarly, Psalm 80 is a plea for God to restore Israel. The three chapters of Jeremiah see the prophet Isaiah calling out Israel’s unfaithfulness and urges them to repent and return to God before judgement falls.
God desires his people to turn from rebellion and seek him in humility.
This week, let us take time to read these passages and reflect on areas in our lives where God is calling us to return to him. May the scriptures remind us of God’s mercy and his desire to restore his people.
