Our world seems to have so many evil things going on unchecked. It could be hard to imagine what justice looks like. Do we even dare to hope for a victory?
“Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” (Verses 6 and 7).
Rev 19 offers a powerful image of Christ, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He triumphantly leads heaven’s army to vanquish evil and establish his righteous reign. In Rev 19, we see the rebellion of man and the justice of Christ. He rides a white horse, is clothed in glory, and he has a sharp sword to judge and make war. His robe dripped in blood reminds us of his sacrifice and his power to execute divine justice.
For Christians, Rev 19 assures us that no matter how chaotic the world gets, the victory of Christ is certain. We are reminded to live in faith and to prepare ourselves as his bride – purified and ready for his return.
Let us rejoice in the certainty of the ultimate victory of Christ. Surrender areas of our life where we struggle with trust or obedience. May we stand firm in hope and share the gospel, with the certainty that God’s justice will prevail.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, thank you for the promise of your victory. Help me to live as a faithful servant, reflecting your justice and love. Strengthen my hope as I await your glorious return. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
