Raising children is a rollercoaster. One moment, they are singing praise and worship songs at the age of two. Next, they are playing computer games all night long before a school day. They test your patience, they stretch your wallet, and they do not like to take photos with you.
Yet, through the chaos, frustrations, and occasional desire to touch their backside with a rod, you never stopped loving them. Not when they skip homework. Not when they refused to practice the piano. Not when they moved to grandma’s house because you took the side of your dog when it stole their food.
That is the kind of love God has for us – only infinitely greater. We run away from him. We ignore him. We make a mess of things, and yet, he never stops loving us. Never. Rom 8:38-39 makes this very clear. Nothing can separate us from God’s love.
So, take heart, my friends. If you, an imperfect parent, can love your children through every step, imaging how much more your perfect your Father God loves you. Rest in that truth. No matter what, he has never stopped loving you.
