With Him in the Boat #2 – The Price of Peace

We talk about peace like it’s free. But the truth? Peace always costs something.

It might cost your pride – swallowing the last word in an argument.
It might cost your comfort – stepping away from a toxic friendship you’ve grown used to.
It might cost your control – releasing plans you’ve held too tightly into God’s hands.

When Jesus said, “Come to me… and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28), He didn’t mean peace would drop into our laps without surrender. Rest begins when we lay down what keeps us restless.

I’ve learned this the hard way. Letting go feels like loss at first – like setting a heavy bag down and suddenly realizing how much weight you were carrying. Pride told me to keep it. Fear told me I needed it. But God showed me I couldn’t hold peace and grudges at the same time. He has to keep reminding me because I am a slow learner in this area.

The price of peace is real. But so is the reward:
A heart that sleeps without rehearsing old arguments.
A mind no longer stuck in “what if.”
A soul anchored not in control, but in trust.

Peace is costly. But so is living without it.
