Standing Steady #1 – Position: Where You Stand Matters

“He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” – Psalm 40:2

Sometimes, life feels like a never-ending adventure. The ground beneath you keeps shifting – one moment steady, the next uncertain. You think you have found your footing, then something moves, and you start to lose balance again.

When Kathleen went to heaven, my world tilted. Everything that once felt sure suddenly felt fragile. I tried to hold myself up with routine – walks with Ben, healthy meals, blogging – but what kept me standing was not my strength. It was where I chose to stand.

Our position in life matters. If we stand on fear, we will fall with every bad day. If we stand on our feelings, we will sink with every wave. But if we stand on God’s Word – on his love, his promise, his faithfulness – we can stay upright even when the storm does not stop.

Like a tree planted by the water. The wind can blow hard, but the roots hold firm because they reach deep. The strength is not in the trunk – it is in where it is planted.

Let your life be rooted in God’s truth. Let your heart rest on the rock of salvation. No matter how shaky life feels, your position in him will hold. You will not be shaken.

I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, thank you for putting my feet on solid ground. When life shifts and fear whispers, remind me to stand firm in your presence. Keep me rooted in your love and anchored in your truth. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
