“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Pro 3:5–6)
As one year ends and another begins, it is natural to pause and reflect. Many of us take time to look back before moving forward, asking where we have been and where God may be leading next.
Taking Stock Before a New Beginning
Once a year, companies review their performance. They ask what went well, what failed, and what needs to change. In a similar way, we take stock of our lives.
We examine our walk with God. We ask the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and realign us with God’s will. What we did well, we hope to continue. What we neglected, we want to improve.
Often, our desires are simple. We want to grow closer to God. We want healthier lives. We hope to read more, write more, and share life more openly with others.
Facing the New Year Without a Clear Path
Yet, as we step into a new year, many questions remain unanswered. Some plans from 2025 are unfinished. Some problems remain unresolved. And most of us cannot see very far ahead.
Scripture reminds us that we do not even know what tomorrow will bring. With so much uncertainty, how do we plan? How do we move forward without fear?
Choosing Hope and Trust Over Certainty
As Christians, our hope is not built on having everything figured out. Instead, it rests on who walks with us. Faith, as Hebrews reminds us, is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).
Even when the path ahead is unclear, God’s faithfulness remains steady. Trust does not grow through control, but through dependence. With every step taken in faith, God quietly shapes our hearts.
Waiting Without Rushing
When we choose to wait on God rather than demand immediate answers, waiting itself becomes an act of worship. God’s timing is wiser than ours.
We may not know what lies ahead in 2026. That is alright. God does.
We walk forward with hope, not because the road is certain, but because our Shepherd is faithful.
A Short Prayer
Father, as I step into 2026, help me trust You fully. Lead me when I cannot see the way ahead and give me peace as I wait. I place my hope in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
