Writing is the bridge; the ministry is the engagement. Image generated by Gemini.

We continue with part 4 of A Servant’s Pen series. We went through how to go through the grind. In this post, we will find out how your writing is a ministry of presence.

Writing isn’t just about delivering information; it is also about standing in the gap for someone else. It is a ministry of presence that goes beyond the published page.

The “After-Action” Service

A servant-writer doesn’t just drop a message and disappear. They stay to listen. The comments section, the emails, and the private messages are not “distractions” from your writing – they are the writing.

Your best words might not be in the blog post, but in the thoughtful reply you give to a hurting reader. Do not see readers as mere traffic. See them as your neighbours who have invited you into their digital home. Love your neighbours, remember?

Standing With, Not Above

The heart of this ministry is found in Romans 12:15:

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”

The Ministry of Presence means your writing meets people where they are. You aren’t shouting directions from a mountaintop; you are walking through their darkest valley with them, offering a hand through your words.

Practical Steps for a Ministry of Presence

To cultivate a ministry of presence on your blog, consider these suggestions.

The Graceful Reply

Spend time to respond to comments or emails. Even a simple “I am praying for you” can be the most impactful thing a reader sees all day.

Open the Door

End your posts with a sincere question. In addition to “Like and subscribe,” try “How can I pray for you at this stage of your life journey?”

The Silent Stewardship

Sometimes the best ministry is not writing. If a reader shares something heavy, take a moment to actually pray for them before you even type a response.

What You Can Do

Go back to your most recent post and find one comment that you haven’t replied to yet. Write a response that doesn’t just say “thanks,” but acknowledges something specific the reader shared.

Ok. I need your help here. For me to respond to you, I need you to say something. LOL.

The next post will be the concluding part of the series. See you in two days.
