A few days ago, we talked about how easy it is to let life slide away while we are just busy “here and there“. We know when we are busy “here and there”, we are sometimes neither here nor there. If that struck a chord with you, I wanted to drop in and check on you – not to give you another to-do list, but like a friend sitting across from you with a warm mug of long black.
How has your heart been feeling since then? Have you noticed those little moments where distraction tries to steal your peace?
It is so easy to fall into the trap of thinking we have to fix everything overnight. We set big goals, clear our schedules, and then feel guilty the moment life gets messy again. But grace does not work on a performance system. Finding your footing and taking small steps back to God is not about running a marathon; it is simply about making one gentle shift toward Him. Then you can worry about the marathon.
Asking the Right Questions
If you have felt a bit overwhelmed lately, take a deep breath right now and ask yourself a few soft questions:
- What is one small thing drawing your focus away today? Is it a notification on your phone, an endless task list, or just the noise of the day?
- What would resting in God look like for just five minutes? You do not need an hour-long study session right now – just five peaceful minutes of sitting with Him and putting everything else down.
- Is there something simple you can let go of today? Sometimes saying a quiet “not right now” to minor tasks is the sweetest way to make space for what truly matters.
Grace for the Journey
You do not have to get everything right today. God is not standing over you with a timer, waiting for you to get your daily routine right. He is always happy whenever you pause to look His way. He created you for this purpose.
If you managed to steal even two quiet minutes with Him today, celebrate that win. If you drifted today, it is not the end – His arms are wide open right this second.
Take it one moment at a time. What is one tiny way you can invite Him into your next hour?
