This week, we read 4 chapters of Psalms and 1 Sam 24. The common theme shared across the 5 readings is dependance on God. We read about David’s gratitude, his plea for help, his trust in God, all points to reliance on God. We also read about facing different challenges and injustice – accusations from the enemies, isolation, being pursued, having to make a difficult choice. We see David consistently sought help from God. He also displayed great integrity in face of adversities. When he had a chance to end it all, he chose to trust God for justice instead of taking things in his own hands.
We begin with Psalm 138 today. It is overflowing with David’s gratitude to God for God’s unfailing love and faithfulness. David wanted the world to sing God’s praises. He gave thanks to God for saving his life from his enemies. He trusted God’s enduring love.
Remember God’s blessings. It will do us good to reflect on God’s blessings in our life whether it’s big or small. And, learn to give thanks to God sincerely.
Give testimony. If David was to post his gratitude on Facebook today, he would share it not just to his Closed Friends, Friends, or any Groups. He would share it to the Public. When we give thanks to God, do we just limit it to our Christian friends? Or do you write down in your personal journal?
Trust in God’s promises. David concluded Psalm 138 by expressing his trust on God’s promises of love, guidance, and salvation.
Besides God, who else know that you are thankful to God? Does God even know?
