Greetings! Today we read Psalm 142.
A cave can be an imtimidating place. It’s dark, it’s damp, it’s isolating. Danger lurks at every corner. Bats or other scarier creatures may lunge at you anytime. David was hiding in a cave. We can feel David’s desperation as he pleaded for God’s help. He felt lonely and he was surrounded by enemies. God hears our cries even in the darkest moments in our life.
Cry out to God anytime. You do not have to wait for the visitors to leave first. You do not have to wait until your children are in bed. You do not have to wait until the CG meeting is over. You do not have to wait for the test result is out. You do not have to wait until after your last day at work. You can cry out to God anytime. No matter how desperate or hopeless your situation is, you can look for God’s help. There is no “minumum desparation level”. Just turn to God in prayer. We can be honest to God. We can be vulnerable when we face God.
Seek refuge in God’s presence. You might be alone. Your son and daughter-in-law are 7500KM away pursuing their studies (and perhaps also their new lives.) Your friends are not around. However, God is always there. We can always find peace in God’s constant presence. In the tumultuous world we are in, we find solace in the presence of God.
Trust in God’s Timing. When we pray to God, we sometimes are too eager to see God does what we ask for. We want the job now. We want to be healed now. We want to money now. We want our children to be smart now. We want our family to know Christ now. We want to see reform taking place now. We want to see corrupted people in jail now. It does not happen that way most of the time. Does it ever? We pray. We wait patiently. It is in his hands. He knows better.
Do you remember the last time you pulled your hair out? What happened then? What did you do about it? How do you find peace in the presence of God? When do you cry out to God? At what stage do you start looking to God? How much pain will you suffer before you think you can begin to “bother” God?
