Hi. How are you? We come to the last reading of the week. We read Psalm 27 today. We see that even when in deep troubles, David had confidence in God to turn things around – even before it happened! His trust in God was unshakeable. It did not depend on circumstances.
God is Our Refuge. You are out of a job. Your have a strained relationship with the person you care the most. You are sick and the doctor could not figure out how to fix it. No matter what is happening to you or around you, choose to find our peace, our safety, and our security in God’s presence. I am not saying seeking God will get you a job you want, reconcile with the person you love, and get healed. I am saying you can find refuge in God.
Do not Fear the Darkness. You may feel that you are surrounded by darkness. You do not see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. It’s total darkness! Trust and believe the light of God will shine and help you to overcome any challenges you face. Let your faith dispel fear and anxiety. Do not dwell in fear. Cling on to God!
Seek God’s Guidance. When we are not in our elements, when we are angry, when we are scared, when we panic, we tend to make the wrong decisions, which make things worse. These decisions may come back to haunt us later. Instead of being pressured to make a decision, talk to God. Ask God for wisdom. Look to God for guidance. You know that he will lead you on the right path. If you are so perplexed you do not know how to pray, get your loved ones and your friends to pray along with you.
Psalms are not just ancient poems. More often than not, they offer timeless messages relevant to the present day. As we read Psalm, we should reflect on their themes, glean the insights, and apply the wisdom. Allow them to draw us closer to God.
What did you get from reading Psalm 27? What speaks to you? What can you apply from today onwards?
