Dear reader,
It has been three months since I decided to write some short notes / devotions as a companion to the 2024 DUMC Bible Reading Plan. If we follow the plan, we have a passage to read everyday from Monday to Friday. We then have Saturday and Sunday for meditation or for catching up in case we fall behind.
So, effectively, I write five times a week. In the beginning, I shared it via WhatsApp. I decided it could clutter up the conversations. Also, if I put it in a blog, it makes it easier to look for past entries.
It has been challenging. I am always worried to be late. I know, I should not worry. There might not be any readers at all. Still, I want to keep it going. The other challenge is that sometimes, a particular theme spans multiple readings. In fact, the same recurring theme seems to run for weeks and even months. How to write something different?
I remember I was once told, a good preacher can preach ten different sermons from a single text. A not so good preacher preaches the same sermon from ten different texts. So, when I wrote, I try to look at different perspective and different focus in the passage.
I don’t have a lot of followers or likes, or comments. If you are a reader and you do find it useful, praise God. If you think you want to share it as a resource for others, I thank you.
Happy reading! May the reading of the Bible continue to transform and enrich your life.
