Psalm 22 echoes Jesus cry from the cross. It shows the scene of the crucifixion. It opens with a cry of abandonment which shows the depth of Jesus’ suffering. Jesus was mocked, insulted, and ridicules. He also suffered physical torment. He was whipped and nailed on the cross. Yet, the psalm expresses hope in God’s deliverance and gives praise to the Lord.
Understanding Jesus’ Suffering. It offers a perspective on Jesus’ emotional and physical pain on the cross. It allows us to feel the depth of his suffering.
Faith in Difficult Times. The psalmist felt abandoned, yet he ultimately put his hope in God. The lesson here is to trust in God’s faithfulness, even when we feel alone.
Finding Strength in Prayer. While the psalmist cried out in anguish, he also expressed trust in God. He channeled his feelings and emotions to God through prayer. He remained hopeful in God.
