Good day. We continue with 2 Sam chapter 12. King David really did it. Who was going to tell him? Prophet Nathan confronted David about his sin. David messed up but when he was confronted with his sins, he repented. We examined the devastating consequences yesterday. Today, we read about the power of repentance. We see God’s mercy in response to a contrite heart.
Verse saw the turning point in David’s life. He acknowledged his sins. The child of David and Bathsheba died. David genuinely repented and he received forgiveness.
Acknowledge Your Sin. When your mistakes / wrongdoing / sins are pointed out, do not make excuses or try to hide it. Own up to it. Admit your sin before God and take responsibility for your actions.
Repent Sincerely. Genuine repentance involves a conscience decision of turning away from sin and a desire to make things right with God. Sincere repentance leads to a transformed heart and life.
Accept God’s Forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 tells us we can trust God’s mercy and forgiveness. No sin is too great for God’s grace. However, do not take this for granted. If one keeps on sinning with the idea that one can seek forgiveness afterwards, it is not true repentance. And definitely, do not buy into the hyper-grace nonsense.
Learn from Consequences. Sins have consequences. God can forgive us when we confess our sins and repent sincerely, there may still be consequences for the bad choices we made. Learn from these lessons and allow us to draw us closer to God again. Let the lessons strengthen our commitment to live a victorious life.

Abba Father, I acknowledge my sins before You and repent with a contrite heart. Thank You for your mercy and forgiveness. Help me to turn away from sin and to live a life that honours you. Strengthen me to learn from my mistakes and to grow in your grace. In the name of Jesus, amen.”
