Greetings, my friends. According to the 2024 DUMC Bible Reading Plan, we embark on 1 Kings this week. We will be reading Psalm 30, Psalm 39, 1 Kings 1, Psalm 41, and Psalm 145. While each passage touch on different topics, one central theme running through them all is God’s faithfulness and how we respond to it.
The passages we read deal with our gratitude, the brevity of life, Solomon’s wisdom, hope in God despite feeling betrayed by others, and a celebration of God’s greatness and love.
God’s faithfulness is weaved into the dynamic relationship between God and man in the five passages. We respond with thankfulness, trust, dependence, and praise in this two-way relationship with God.
