To Kathleen, my dear wife of 31 years

My dearest Kathleen,

As we celebrate our 31st anniversary today, I find myself reminiscing about the incredible journey we’ve shared since we first met at Tunku Abdul Rahman College in 1991. I remember the day we crossed paths, you from Johor Baru and I from Petaling Jaya. It feels like just yesterday when we fell in love, our hearts intertwining as we walked through the college campus, shared laughter, and dreamed of a future together.

Your love for God, your intelligence, and your beautiful heart captivated me from the start. It wasn’t long before we graduated and got married, embarking on a new chapter as husband and wife. Our lives have been a tapestry of moments, both joyous and challenging, but through it all, your unwavering faith and strength have been our guiding light.

We were blessed with our precious Jesse, our firstborn and only child, who brought immeasurable joy into our lives. Together, we built a home, transforming a condominium into a house that became a sanctuary for our family. We navigated the ebb and flow of life, buying and trading cars, serving in various churches, and forging lasting friendships with remarkable people along the way.

As I sit by your side in the hospital, my heart aches for the struggles you’re enduring. These are not the best of times, and my own challenges, including being between jobs and without income, weigh heavily on me. Yet, despite the difficulties, I am filled with gratitude for the love and strength you continue to show.

Jesse and his wife are in Adelaide, and though they are miles away, they are with us in spirit, holding us in their hearts and prayers. We are united by our faith in God, a constant source of comfort and hope.

When I come home each day, and you are alone in your ward, I find solace in the companionship of Ben, our loyal dog. But it is you, my beloved Kathleen, who fills my thoughts and heart. Your courage, your grace, and your enduring love inspire me every day.

Today, I celebrate you, my incredible wife. I celebrate your strength, your kindness, and the boundless love you have given me over the past 31 years. You are my rock, my confidante, and the love of my life. No matter the challenges we face, our love remains steadfast, a beacon of hope and joy.

Happy anniversary, my love. Here’s to the countless memories we’ve created and the many more we have yet to make. I am eternally grateful for you and the life we’ve built together.

All glory to Jesus.

With all my love, Loong.
