We live in a fast-paced world. We have little time for the less important things when we are caught up in the hustle and bustle of the rat race. In our busy schedule, we may neglect the needs of those around us. As Christians, we are called to the ambassadors of Christ. We are called to be the hands of feet of Jesus, showing care and concern for those around us. One simple yet powerful way to fulfil this calling is by (no pun intended) making a call.
Jesus taught us to love our neighbours as ourselves. A phone call can be just what the other person needs. That person may be feeling isolated, anxious, lonely, or burdened. A call is a gesture that says, “Hey, you matter to me. I care about you.” It could be a family member, a friend, a CG member, a FB friend. A call can bring comfort and encouragement.
A few months ago, a friend / former colleague reached out to me. He then encouraged me to pick up a new skill and gave me a project. I have been in between jobs for months (I still am.) That project helped me to pay bills for a month. I then found out another friend spoke to him about his concern for me. Both are brothers in Christ. I thank God for them.
Imagine the impact you can have by extending the same kindness to others. It is an act of love that can uplift spirits and strengthen bonds.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (1 Thess 5:11)
By taking a few minutes to make a call, we can fulfill the calling of this verse and demonstrate the love of Christ in a tangible way. This is something a text message cannot achieve. So, let us make it a habit to reach out, check in, and show genuine concern for those in your life. A seemingly simple phone call can be a profound expression of God’s love and care.
