1 Kings 10 recounts the famous visit of the Queen of Sheba to King Solomon, a story that highlights the splendor and wisdom that God had bestowed upon Solomon. The Queen of Sheba, having heard of Solomon’s fame and his relationship with the Lord, came to test him with hard questions. The chapter describes her astonishment at Solomon’s wisdom and the wealth of his kingdom, leading her to praise God for His blessings on Israel.

The Queen said to Solomon, “Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the Lord’s eternal love for Israel, He has made you king to maintain justice and righteousness” (1 Kings 10:9, NIV). This verse reflects the recognition that Solomon’s success and wisdom were direct blessings from God, intended to fulfil His purposes for Israel.

1 Kings 10 also serves as a reminder that material wealth and wisdom, while significant, are ultimately gifts from God. The chapter encourages us to seek wisdom and wealth not for our glory but to fulfill God’s will and bring glory to His name.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for the gifts and blessings You bestow upon us. Help us to use them wisely, not for our gain, but for Your glory. May we, like Solomon, be known for our wisdom and justice, and may we always acknowledge that everything we have comes from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
