1 Kings 18 gives us one of the most dramatic moments in the Bible. The prophet Elijah had a showdown with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. Israel has turned away from God. Elijah confronted King Ahab and the false prophets.
Elijah laid the smack down on the Baal prophets. It was a squash match. The prophets were powerless in the face of Elijah. As Elijah kept his faith in God, God revealed his power in incredible ways. Reading about this confrontation reminds us that no matter how daunting the challenge is, God is greater.
Think of the time you had to go up against a formidable enemy. Think of the time you were facing a great challenge. Where did your help come from?
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, thank you for showing your power in my life. Strengthen my faith like Elijah’s, so that I can boldly stand for you in all circumstances. Let my life be a testimony to your greatness. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
