Greetings, my dear fellow Bible readers. Do you remember a time when you were in a desperate situation? How did God provide what you needed? Have you ever doubted God’s provision and timing? How did you overcome these doubts?
We continue today with 1 Kings 17. We are introduced to the prophet Elijah. God sent him to declare a severe drought in Israel. As the famine that followed ravages the land, God points Elijah to Kerith Ravine. There, Elijah receives providence by God in miraculous ways. First, ravens bring him bread and meat twice a day. When he moves to Zarephath, a widow, who is lacking, provides him with her flour and oil, which does not run out.
Let us make a few observations here. Firstly, Eijah chooses to obey God despite his unusual commands. God knows better. Secondly, God provides. Even when we do not see how, he will supply all our needs according to his riches in glory. Thirly, the widow, even when she does not have enough for herself and her son in the famine, is willing to provide food for Elijah.
The key takeaway from this chapter is that even in our darkest moments, God sees our needs and he provides for us even in ways we do not expect.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your provision and faithfulness. Help me to trust in your promises, even when my circumstances seem impossible. May I, like Elijah and the widow, rely on your guidance and believe in your perfect timing. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
