Responding to God’s Call to Righteousness

Dear readers, in the coming week, we will delve into a series of Bible passages that share a common theme – the call to return to God’s righteousness and the consequences of ignoring his commands. We will be reading Isaiah 1, 2 Kings 22, 2 Kings 23:1-25, Psalm 94, and then the remaining verses of 2 Kings 23.

Isaiah 1 is a call to repentance. The prophet Isaiah calls out the sins of the people and calls them to repentance. We learn that God desires true obedience more than ritualistic worship.

In 2 Kings 22, we read that King Josiah discovers the Book of the Law during temple renovations. He immediately responds with humility and repentance. He sets a good example. We learn the impact and transformative power of the Word of God.

In the first twenty-five verses of 2 King 23, we see the renewal of an entire nation. Josiah is serious about removing sins from returning God.

Psalm 94 reminds us of God’s justice and his protection for the righteous. It encourages us to remain faithful to God.

On Friday, we read the remaining twelve verses of 2 King 23 and find out the consequences of disobedience.

These passages collectively remind us of the vital need for repentance, the transformative power of the Word of God, and the importance of a life rooted in righteousness. It is my prayer that as we read these passages this week, they will inspire us to draw closer to God. May they help us to commit to his ways and to trust in his justice.

Let us read and be blessed. Do share any reflections you have to encourage one another.
