Jer 31 is not only filled with hope, it is also filled with joy and the promise of a fresh start. God offered a new covenant with his people – a relationship built on his love and mercy.
“I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (verse 33)
In this new covenant, God’s law is not just written on stone tablets but on the hearts of his people. It reflects God’s deep desire for a close and personal relationship with each of us, based on his grace and love.
Here are some things we can apply in our Christian walk.
Firstly, God offers his grace. He wants to be with us. He wants to write his truth on our hearts and draws us close to him.
Secondly, God offers a fresh start. He offers it the Israelites in exile. He also offers us a new beginning in life when we receive Jesus. No matter what happened in the past, no matter what we have done in the past, God’s covenant promises forgiveness and restoration.
Thirdly, God offers a life in him. As God’s law is written in our hearts, we are called to live out God’s law. A life reflecting his love, mercy, and grace in our lives.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, thank you for the promise of a new covenant. Help me embrace the grace you offer and live out your love in all I do. Write your truth on my heart and guide me closer to you each day. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen,
