Ps 136 reeks of joy. It celebrates God’s enduring love and faithfulness. Every verse is echoed with the powerful refrain “his love endures forever.” This reminds us that no matter the circumstances, God’s love is constant and everlasting.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.” (verse 1)
I find it easier to sing the verse rather than reading it.
Ps 136 is about God’s unfailing love. God’s love stays unshaken through every triumph and trial. Ps 136 sees God’s love in creation, the deliverance of Israel, and his ongoing care for his people.
How should we respond to God’s enduring love? Number one, be thankful to God’s goodness. Ps 136 reminds us to give thanks always. In good times and bad, we can celebrate God’s love, which never wavers. His love endures forever.
Number two, be confident in God’s faithfulness. Just like how he cares for Israel, God is faithfully guiding and protecting us, His love endures through every reason of life.
Number three, trust in God’s eternal love. The repeated refrain in Ps 136 serves as a beautiful reminder that no matter what we face, God’s love never fails.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, I celebrate your goodness and your love that endures forever. Thank you for your faithfulness, for guiding me, and for your care through every season. Help me to always be mindful of your never-ending love. May my heart continue to overflow with gratitude. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
