Dear readers, we continue with the 2024 DUMC (Damansara Utama Methodist Church) Bible Reading Plan. In the next five days, we will read Ezra 2, Ps 107, Ps 85, Ezra 3. and Ps 126. We find a powerful theme of God’s faithfulness in restoring his people.
Ezra 2 recorded some exiles returning to Jerusalem, which is a testament to God’s promise to bring his people back to their homeland. The next chapter describes the rebuilding of the temple, showing a powerful image of renewal, worship, and unity.
The three chapters of psalms this week reflect God’s deliverance and mercy. Ps 107 celebrates God’s redemption. We are reminded to give thanks for his love. Ps 85 prays for restoration, asking God to revive his people. Ps 126 captures the joy of those restored by God.
I pray that as you read the five passages, you will also meditate on the themes of restoration, gratitude, and hope. Think about how God is working in your own life and in the world. Do share your thoughts with others – by doing so you encourage those around you to see God’s ongoing faithfulness. May this week be one of rediscovering the beauty of God’s promises through his Word!
