08/11/2024|Ps 105 – Remembering God’s Faithfulness

Today, we scroll through photos on our phones. The feeling is different when we are flipping through a photo album. Each photo captures a cherished memory. Every page reminds us of joy, love, and friendship – all snapshots of our life journey.

“Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced” (verse 5)

Ps 105 Invites us to do the same with God’s faithfulness. We are encouraged to recall the many ways God has provided guidance, protection, and blessings to his people throughout history and our lives today.

Ps 105 recounts God’s steadfast faithfulness to Israel – from the Abrahamic covenant to the deliverance from Egypt. Each verse reflects a story of divine providence and mercy. For Christians, remembering God’s past faithfulness is not just nostalgic, it is a source of strength. Looking at his past faithfulness helps us to trust God for the future.

It is a rather long chapter of Psalm. Take time to go through it. Consider God’s faithfulness in your life. Journal a time God provided, guided, or comforted you in a tough time. May the memory be markers of faith, reminding you of his unchanging love and commitment.

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, thank you for your unfailing faithfulness. Help me to remember your goodness and to carry those memories as reminders of your love. Help me to be thankful for your faithfulness. May my heart be strengthened by recalling your works. May I walk in trust every day, knowing you are with me. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

p.s. “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.” (verse 15) is often misquoted and misused by heretics to defend themselves.
