Can you imagine a Christian who trust God through every stage in life?
“For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.” (verse 5)
Ps 71:5 shows us a glimpse of an enduring faith. The psalmist calls on God’s strength and protection from youth through old age. He reflects on God’s faithfulness across a lifetime. He speaks of the unchanging nature of God’s support and presence. In trying times, he leans on God (see verse 9). We see that God remains a refuge even in times of weakness.
Ps 71 assures us that in every stage of life, God is a constant source of hope. When we are young, when we become an adult, and when we grow old, God is there. When life feels uncertain, when you do not see how to get out of the current situation, take time to thank God for his past faithfulness. It helps us to face the future with faith.
A life rooted in trust transforms how we face both youth and aging. We are then able to draw strength from God.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, thank you for your faithfulness through every season of life. Help me to trust you more every day, leaning on you as my refuge and strength. May my life bear witness to your enduring love. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
