I Do Not Know How to Wait on God

Waiting can be hard. Whether it is waiting in line to order your food, waiting for an answer to prayer, waiting outside the OT where your son is getting a surgery, waiting for a breakthrough in a difficult season, or waiting for clarity in a confusing situation. The waiting process can be unbearable. Waiting on God may not be any easier. Waiting on God tests our patients, our faith, and our trust in God’s timing.

“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Is 40:30-31, ESV)

The two verses paint a beautiful picture of what happens when we wait on the God. It is not passive inactivity. It is active trust. Waiting on the Lord means placing our hope in him, believing that he is working even when we do not see it. It is in the waiting that he renews our strength and prepares us for what lies ahead.

How do we wait then? First, we shift our perspective. Instead of viewing waiting as time wasted, recognize it as an opportunity to draw near to God. It is a season to seek his wisdom through prayer and meditation. It is a time to grow in faith, learning to rely on o his promises rather than our own understanding.

So, how do we wait well? First, we shift our perspective. Instead of viewing waiting as wasted time, we can see it as an opportunity to draw closer to God. It is a season to seek His wisdom through prayer, His Word, and the counsel of others. It is a time to grow in faith, learning to rely on His promises rather than our own understanding.

Next, embrace the process. Waiting refines us. It reaches us valuable lessons in patience, perseverance, and dependence on God. When we feel weary, we can lean into his presence, knowing that he is our source of strength.

Lastly, we hold onto hope. God’s timing is perfect, and his plans are good. When we wait, he prepares us, equips us, and positions us for his purposes.

If you are in a season of waiting today, know that God is with you. He is strengthening you, teaching you, and preparing you to soar. Trust him, seek him, and let him renew your strength.
