“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (Jn 4:23, 24)
The Bible reminds us that worship is not confined to eloquent prayers or flawless melodies. It is a posture of the heart, a surrender of our souls to the One who deserves all glory. When we feel inadequate, we can marvel at God with “How Great is Our God”. When we count our blessings, we proclaim “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” We let truth guide our hearts. Even when words fail, the Spirit intercedes for us.
We may feel like the woman at the well, not sure of how to approach God. Remember, worship is not about “getting it right”. It is about offering what we have, it is coming to God declaring “I surrender all.” It is coming to God with “Just as I am” and “Here I am to worship”. When we have our quiet time, we whisper, “Holy Spirit, You are Welcome” and invite his presence by crying out “Come, Holy Spirit, We Need You.”
We desire to “Shout to the Lord’ to the “Father of Creation.” We have “Times of Refreshing” as we wait on him and bask I the glory of his “Majesty”. We “Give Thanks” and declare “Thank You, Lord” when we think of the “Amazing Grace” of the “Lamb of God”.
When we “Survey the Wondrous Cross” and ponder the significance of the “Old Rugged Cross”, we cannot stop singing “Worthy is the Lamb!”
We cannot contain ourselves, we want to “Shout to the Lord” and bring “Joy to the World”!
Let go of the pressure to perform. Worship in Spirit and in truth. That is the kind the worship the Father seeks. Even when you do not know how, start with a simple “I Love You, Lord.” That is enough. That is a good start.
The “Heart of Worship” begins when we realize it is all about him. We “Lift Him Up” in all that we do. “Hallelujah to the Lamb!”
