As I shared once in the past, “happy is the man who acquired the habit of reading.”
Today, “reading” takes many forms. In addition to turning pages of a physical book, we now have e-books and audiobooks. Avid readers will tell you nothing compares to the flipping of a book.
Mark Twain said, “The person who does not read good books has no advantage over the person who can’t read them.”
François Mauriac said, “Tell me what you read, and I’ll tell you who you are” is true enough, but I’d know you better if you told me what you reread.”
Both great writers told us what they thought of reading – it is vital. Imagine collecting books but not diving into the wisdom and pleasure hidden in the pages. Imagine learning the lessons of someone who went ahead before us ONLY ONCE.
There is so much benefit and joy we reap from reading. We stand on the shoulders of giants. We see what we are not able to perceive if we are left on our own. We take a break from the hustle and bustle of life in an escapade that enriches our life and inspires our mind. When we read, it shows. We think, speak, act differently.
What books are you reading?
