Imagine this: You hired a new employee three weeks ago, but you’ve been traveling since her first day. Now that you’re back in the office, you sit her down and ask a simple question:
“So, can you tell me what you’ve accomplished over the last three weeks?”
Her reaction shocks you. In a hysterical crescendo, she throws up her hands in frustration and accuses you of picking on her. She insists that showing up every day is enough. Why should she have to explain herself? Why are you monitoring her like this?
Wait—when did it become wrong for a boss to check in on their employees’ work?
Now, let’s flip the scenario. Imagine YOU just started a new job, and after three weeks, your manager calls you in. Would you confidently list what you’ve achieved? Or would you protest, insisting that you “work best without oversight”?
As Christians, we long to hear these words from our Master: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23) But what will we have to show for our time here? Are we living in a way that pleases God? Do we think we still have 30 years to spare so we are in no rush to do what we are supposed to do?
So, here’s the real question—is God smiling at your work, or are you giving Him a headache? 😊
