Garbage In, Garbage Out vs Gospel In, Gospel Out

The introduction of AI chatbots has change the way we do a lot of things. They are amazing. They can answer questions, provide ideas, and even have a conversation with you. However, we must understand one problem – they are as good as the sources they have to work with. I have experienced many times I was given answers that made me go “huh?” I check the source and find out that the source gave the wrong information.

Our mind works in the same way, albeit in a decidedly smaller scale – we cannot absorb so much information in a short time like AI. What we take in – what we read, watch, hear, and believe – shapes our thoughts, actions, decisions, and ultimately, our lives. If we fill ourselves with negativity, lies, and worldly influences, is it any surprise we are filled with fear, uncertainty, and doubt? Is it any wonder when sin follows? It’s Garbage in, garbage out.

If, however, we fill our hearts with God’s truth, it is an entirely different situation. Jesus is quoted in Jn 8:32 to say, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” When we read, study, memorize, and meditate the Word of God, spend time in prayer, and live according to God’s Word, we align with God’s original design for us. His wisdom transforms us, guiding our thoughts, helps us make right decisions, and shares our character. Gospel in. gospel out.

Just like an AI trained on bad data cannot give the right answers, a life filled with the wrong influences cannot reflect God’s goodness. What are you feeding your heart today? Choose the Gospel, and watch it transform your life!
