The Noise I Could’ve Stopped Sooner

For over three months, my PC fans roared like jet engines. Every bootup sounded like an air siren. It is a constant scream of 100 banshees in the background, loud enough to notice, soft enough to ignore … until you can’t. It is like my PC was ready to take off. I cannot imagine how much Ben suffered with his superior hearing.

Every time I turned it on, the noise grated on my nerves. I knew something was wrong. I confirmed it with the technician by sending him video and audio. All I had to do was to bring it to the shop. They would replace the fans. I didn’t. I put up with it – day after day – until Jesse reminded me again.

I brought it to the shop, and guess what? It was fixed within the day. Just like that. Silence. Peace. Relief. I had suffered three months for no reason.

Why do we do this?

Sometimes we see the problem clearly, but instead of facing it, we delay. We endure the discomfort, convince ourselves it’s not that bad, and hope it just goes away. It’s not just procrastination. It’s not just laziness. It’s the flesh.

Paul understood this. In Romans 7:19-20, he wrote, “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.”

The battle in our mind is real. However, we are not powerless. We can choose to confront what needs fixing – in our habits, our hearts, our walk with God. Do not let the noise linger. Bring it to the One who can fix it. Submit to him. Do it today.
