The Great Mission

I felt like I had climbed Everest, crossed a desert, and swum the English Channel (and I cannot swim) – all in one afternoon. My limbs were jelly, my mind foggy, and I sat in front of my computer like a battle-worn soldier. My eye lids were too heavy I could hardly keep my eyes open. What had I done to deserve such exhaustion?

Well… I had taken my laptop to the computer shop to replace two noisy fans. And then picked it up.

That’s it.

Two short trips and I was wrecked. It hit me – I’m out of shape. When you don’t move enough, eat well, or sleep properly, even small tasks feel massive. It’s not that they’re too hard; it’s that I’m not prepared.

The same goes for our faith.

If we don’t stay spiritually active—reading the Word, praying, walking in obedience—then even a small challenge can feel overwhelming. A harsh word, a setback, a delay, and we’re spiralling. But faith, like muscle, needs exercise. Daily trust. Daily surrender. Daily stretching beyond comfort.

We don’t need to be spiritual superheroes. We just need to stay spiritually fit—one step, one prayer, one act of trust at a time.

Let’s not wait until we’re spiritually breathless to realize we need training. Even faith needs regular workouts.
