Christians, Calories, and Koinonia

There’s something special about Christian fellowship. Maybe it’s the shared faith. Maybe it’s the Holy Spirit. Or maybe… it’s the food.

Let’s be real – if two or three are gathered in His name, someone brought cake. Or cookies. Potluck (or pot-bless, depending on your preference) is a thing in the book of Acts.

Beyond the carbs and sugar, there’s joy in doing life together. Laughter hits different when you know the person next to you is praying for you. Sharing struggles feels lighter when someone says, “I understand, me too.” Whether it’s coffee after church or awkward small group icebreakers (yes, we remember the time you bought fresh seafood), these moments remind us: we’re not meant to follow Jesus alone.

God didn’t save us into a solo adventure. He calls us into a body – a sometimes messy, mostly diverse, always fun, munch-loving family.

So, what now?

  • Text a church friend today and ask how they’re really doing. Find out how to pray for them.
  • Invite someone over, or go a cup of coffee in the mall.
  • Meet up regularly.
  • Bring the cookies.

Joy multiplies when it’s shared. So go ahead – laugh, cry, pray, eat. That’s fellowship. That’s my kind of fellowship. And it’s holy.

I will have a long black.
