Ben’s Visit to the Vet

We arrived at the vet about 10 minutes before the opening time of 1000. All three parking spots for customers were taken. I thought, they must be just parked there temporarily. They would leave when the clinic is opened. Ben and I waited I the car. At 10 o’clock sharp, the grill door was rolled up. The three cars did not move. The drivers alighted their cars with their pets. They were customers. I moved my car in the hunt for a vacant visitor’s parking.

I wanted to be close to the clinic because if Ben was going to be sedated, he did not have to walk very far when we leave the clinic. There was NO visitor parking. Not even one. Every parking spot is marked as reserved. In the second round, I asked a security guard for help. He guided me to one specific parking. I guess he knew no one was going to take it today.

I then brought Ben to the clinic. I was given a buzzer, and we went out of the clinic to wait. We went across the road. After a while, I heard a noise. It took me a while before I realized it was the buzzer. I brought Ben back to the clinic.

Dr Lya met us in consultation room 3. I explained to her what happened. She asked many questions. She listened to his heart and told me what Dr Jenny told me last Saturday – nothing abnormal. She wanted to do an x-ray. She told me she and a nurse would hold Ben in a specific position to try to get a good image. If they could not get it done, she would tell me. She told me they generally do not take x-ray with the patient sedated. I led Ben to the x-ray room and left him behind closed doors. I did not hear him at all.

While waiting outside the x-ray room, I saw in consultation room 1 a patient’s human unwrapping what I thought was a tiny little kitten for the doctor to check. It turned out to be a gigantic guinea pig.

At length, I heard from within the x-ray room beeping sounds and then the sound of Velcro being pull apart. The door was unlatched and opened. The nurse passed Ben’s least to me. The x-ray was done.

Dr Lya examined the images – they took a few. She got two doctors in for consultation. She then explained to me that Ben’s heart looks good. (Praise God!) There were, however, scars in his lungs. I saw his lungs in the x-rays from the left, the right, and from the front. Dr Lya would start Ben on a 2-week course of antibiotics. She is treating him for pneumonia. She asked me to measure his breathing rate when he sleeps. We will find out more in 2 weeks.

If Ben responds well to the medicine, good. Otherwise, Dr Lya may do other tests.

She told me Ben was a good boy. He allowed them to put on a muzzle, put him on the table, and put him in various positions for the x-ray. I am happy to hear that.

All glory to Jesus!
