The rain beat against the windows like a war drum. Thunder growled low across the sky. Somewhere in the distance, lightning split the night. Logan sat alone in his living room, lights off, hands wrapped around a cold cup of coffee he never drank.
It had been a hard year — loss of wife, loss of job, a drastic change in daily routine, prayers that seemed to go unanswered. And now, the storm outside felt like the storm inside.
He stared into the dark, asking the question he hadn’t dared say aloud: “God… are You still with me?”
Silence.
But then, something quiet stirred in his memory. A verse he’d read months ago, maybe years: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Logan breathed out. Not relief, not yet — but close.
He looked out into the rain, still pounding, still wild. But he wasn’t alone in it. Not really.
God doesn’t always calm the storm. Sometimes He just sits with us in the middle of it. And maybe that’s the deeper miracle — that when everything else shakes, his presence holds.
Logan still did not have all the answers. He remembered what it was like to trust God.
And somehow, that was enough.
