No More Leaks

My house used to leak when it rained – dripping from the ceiling, overflowing from the buckets, soaking the floors. I had the roof patched, sealed, repaired. The last fix was with cement. Solid. Since then, not a drop.

But still, every time the rain pours down, I feel that old anxiety creep in. What if it leaks again? I am convinced it will leak.

This afternoon, it rained hard – thunder, wind, the works. Ben and I sat in the cool breeze, dry and safe inside. And yet, I kept watching the ceiling, just in case.

Isn’t that how it is with our Christian walk?

Even after we’ve been forgiven – after the sin is washed away by the blood of Jesus, after we have been sealed by the Holy Spirit – we sometimes keep checking for leaks. We fear the past will break back in. We worry we’re still broken, still guilty, still not whole.

But that’s a lie. The enemy wants to trap us in the past. He wants to rob the joy of our salvation.

If you’ve repented, if you’ve trusted Christ, you are restored. The leaks are fixed. You’re not who you were.

Don’t live in fear of what God has already healed.

The rain may fall, but your soul is covered.

Stand in the grace. Trust the fix. And live dry. Live free.
