When Silence Speaks Loudest

Sometimes the deepest hurt comes not from harsh words, but from silence. You reach out with sincerity – sharing, serving, hoping – only to be met with no response. No acknowledgement. Not even a nod. Like a rock being tossed into the ocean. It sank. Hardly a ripple.

We tell ourselves it’s okay. That we shouldn’t expect anything. That maybe tomorrow will be different. And so, we keep giving, keep trying.

But there comes a moment when you stop and wonder: Is it still worth it? Not out of bitterness – but out of honesty. Why keep pouring into places that never pour back?

Maybe it’s not about giving up. Maybe it’s about giving elsewhere. Not everyone deserves front-row access to your energy. And that’s okay.

We avoid toxic people to protect our peace. Perhaps we should also be cautious of the lukewarm – those who take without giving, who remain silent while we wither. Perhaps they don’t even take? Well then, why give to them?

Still, I submit it all to God. He sees. He knows. And He will redirect what’s been misdirected for his greater good.

I won’t stop loving. But I will love with discernment. And I’ll wait for the ones who see, who feels pity, who value, who walk alongside.

Until then, I keep going. Not aimlessly. But led by grace—and held by God.
