Love is Kind – Not Just Nice

After church celebration, many are queuing up at the cafeteria to order their food. He saw an old auntie making her way slowly to the queue. He offered her his spot in queue. Before anyone complained, he moved to the back of the line.

Love is kind.

Not just “nice” – not fake smiles or forced politeness. Kindness is deeper than manners. It’s a posture of the heart.

There are times I held back the sigh and waited. There are times I gave my seat to those that need it more. It is normally followed with a smile – on both the person and me.

I remembered how often God has been kind to me. When I fell asleep mid prayer, he didn’t wake me up. When I came with weak faith, he didn’t push me aside. His kindness wasn’t just pleasant – it was powerful. Healing. Patient. Real.

Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?” (Rom 2:4)

Kindness can slow us down – and sometimes that’s the point. It makes space for grace. It reflects a love that isn’t hurried or self-serving.

That’s why I let the sigh go.
Because kindness is not always convenient —
But it’s always Christlike.
