The Call of Total Obedience

Your mission is to travel 194km from Petaling Jaya to JJ Cakes and Swiss Rolls, Ipoh to buy five spinach and cream cheese Swiss rolls. Along the way, you grew tired and decided 120km is good enough. The problem? You are no where near the bakery. You have travelled far, but because you did not go all the way, you returned empty-handed.

Obedience works the same.

Obedience works the same way. In 1 Kings 13:18-19, the man of God started out faithfully, but he did not finish in full obedience. He allowed another voice to sway him. The result was tragic. Partial obedience is not obedience at all.

We do not pretend it is easy. The call of God often runs against our comfort, our desires, and even what others may advise us. But to stop short, to compromise, or to follow halfway is to miss what He has prepared for us.

God does not ask for perfection but for surrender. His way is life. His commands are love. When He calls, it is not to harm us but to lead us into His fullness.

So press on. Go the full distance. For the blessing lies not at 120km, but at 194km.
