“Quit playing games with my heart.” ~Backstreet Boys
Hearts are fragile. Sometimes they shatter like glass. Sometimes they tear, leaving scars that never fully fade.
Yet too often, feelings become a playground. Flirtations without intention. Words whispered without weight. Relationships started for fun, ended without care.
We tell ourselves it is harmless. But the truth is, playing with feelings is playing with fire.
When we toy with emotions, we awaken love before its time (Song of Songs 8:4). We stir hopes we never mean to fulfil. We leave wounds that may never truly heal.
And it is not only about romance. It is friendships betrayed. Promises carelessly made, easily broken. Trust abused for personal gain.
The enemy delights when feelings are treated lightly – because a wounded heart can turn bitter, mistrustful, even hardened towards God.
So, what is the better way? We honour feelings with truth and respect. We speak words that build, not manipulate. We love sincerely, not selfishly.
Human emotion is a gift, not a toy. Handle it with care.
Because every heart you touch belongs to someone God loves.
