When the Walk Feels Heavy

Dear reader,

Our daily walk with Jesus is not always lined with victories and mountaintop moments. Often, it is filled with the mundane. The rat race. The grind. Commuting, looking for a parking, deadlines, errands, and the never-ending to-do lists.

You are tired. Time slips through you fingers and you have little left for what really matters. You still love God, but does he seem to be slipping lower on your list of priorities?

If you feel this, you are not alone. It is ok to feel tired. It is ok to feel like you do not want to do anything. Jesus rested when he was tired.

However, my dear reader, we should not dwell there. Take five. Sit with God quietly. Lick your wounds from life’s battles. Take a good night’s sleep. Tomorrow is better. His mercies are new every morning.

The tiredness of today does not cancel the faithfulness of God. The weakness in a moment does not erase his strength for tomorrow. So, rise again. Walk again. Trust again. He walks with you, in life’s narrow way, even in the grind.

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, I am weary, lift me. I feel empty, fill me. I want to give up, remind me of your mercy. Give me rest for today, and strength for tomorrow. I want to walk with you, even when the way feels heavy. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
